Mogadishu – 11 of November 2023.
A delegation led by European External Action Service (EEAS) from Bruxelles, and representatives’ from European Union Delegation to Somalia, visited the General Dhagabadan Training Center in Mogadishu. This training camp, managed by Somali Armed Forces, is used by EUTM-S to train Somali National Army and Somali Police Force. Visitors, accompanied by Col. Joakim Karlquist, EUTM-S Deputy Force Commander, and Col. Miguel Echegoyen, EUTM-S Head of Training Team, inspected the center’s facilities, observed on-going training activities and discussed with the trainees. The delegation was impressed by on-going courses, in particular the Counter Improvised Explosive Devices Course, held by Somali instructors, and the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Course, a new training activity developed by EUTM-S trainers to provide Somali Forces with the basic skills to operate in FOB environment. The European Union, in Somalia with his diplomatic delegation (EUDEL-S), the training mission (EUTM-S), the capability building mission (EUCAP-SOM) and the maritime security operation (EUNAVFOR), is committed to strengthen security efforts in Somalia.
