Mogadishu, 17 June 2020 – The Commander of Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), Major General Laphte C. FLORA, this afternoon, paid a visit to the EUTM Somalia Headquarters in the International Campus.

The CJTF-HOA was originated under Operation Enduring Freedom – Horn of Africa as part of the United States response to the September 11, 2001 attacks. The mission is to conduct operations to enhance partner nation capacity, promote regional security and stability, dissuade conflict, and protect US and coalition interests.

The highest military authority, accompanied by the US Director of Military Coordination Cell – HOA, Colonel Eric HEFNER was welcomed by the Mission Force Commander, Brigadier General Antonello DE SIO.

After a dedicated Office Call, General FLORA received a briefing in which were explained the principal activities performed by the EUTM-S personnel during the current 6th Mandate, even in this period of global difficulty due to the pandemic of COVID-19, and were underlined the importance of the Mission and the presence of European Union in the Region. The US General had also the opportunity to meet the main elements of the Mission Staff and the Commander of British Forces in Somalia, Colonel Tony CASEY.

At the end of the visit, the Commander of CJTF-HOA, expressed words of gratitude for the professionalism and the excellent work done by EUTM-S Contingent.

Before leaving, the authority had the possibility to sign the Honour Book of the Mission.
