On 3 and 4 April 2023, members of the Subcommittee on Security and Defense (SEDE) of the European parliament visited the headquarters of the EUTM-S Mission and confirmed the strategic importance of the mission.
During their visit, the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) discussed the important role of the EU’s CSDP mission and the vital support to Somali institutions that comes from the close coordination of activities under the EU’s Integrated Approach. MEPs will bring these positive messages and specific recommendations to Brussels to ensure the EU acts geopolitically and provides practical security.
“The EU’s support for Somalia will require EUTM Somalia to continue providing its unique training to the future Somali officers and to enhance its active presence in the ATMIS Joint Operational Centre’s planning cell and processes”.
