Today, within the Mogadishu International Airport, was held the opening ceremony of the second SNA Staff Training Course, which will be developed by EUTM-S Officers, together with the UK SNA Support Team (SST) and the US Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa (CJTF-HoA) personnel, in order to provide the necessary staff training to the Somali National Army (SNA) Officers. This activity, which follows a previous one held with success in Baidoa, is part of a four-course programme, which will last over 6 months and aims at training 36 Officers through mentoring and coaching.
The course programme through the EUTM Training and Advisory Teams guidance, will focus on basic level staff training and procedures, ultimately reaching an initial operating capability and interoperability between Sectors and Army Headquarters.
The EUTM-S continues to proactively contribute to enhance the capability of Somalia’s security Institutions and this initiative demonstrates how the combined coordination of various international partners can deliver a coherent and comprehensive approach to advising and training of the SNA personnel.
