Mogadishu, on 27 December 2018. The closing ceremony of the 5th EUTM-Somalia Train the Trainers and the 3rd EUTM-Somalia Combat Engineer course were held at the General Dhagabadan Training Centre (GDTC) in Mogadishu.
30 Somali National Army (SNA) trainees concluded the challenging courses with success and now they are ready to contribute the Somali defense sector.
The aim of the EUTM-S “Train the Trainers” course is to provide SNA selected personnel with the right set of knowledge, skills and methodology to deliver basic military training to their own SNA soldiers.
The aim of the EUTM-S “Combat E ngineer” course is to provide the Somali Army with Combat Engineer platoons proficient in basic combat engineering activities, in order to enhance their abilities to hold and defend combat positions and to perform offensive operations in heavily mined areas. The course alternates between academic classes and practical exercises.
The European Union Training Mission Somalia (EUTM-Somalia) Mission Force Commander Brigadier General Matteo SPREAFICO, the SNAF Deputy CDF Support, the Brigadier General BILLE’ Ibrahim Adan and the Brigadier General Mohamed Mohamud SANEY, Commander of GDTC attended the event.
EUTM Somalia continue to support the build-up of SNA through its training, advising and mentoring activities.
